Gambling is entertainment only while the money and the time were chosen beforehand, and while you can leave when either one runs out. It becomes harm when you chase a loss, hide it, or use money that was meant for rent, food, or a debt.

A session you can leave

Decide the amount you can lose and the time you will stop. Write both down before the first deposit or the first bet. Stop when you hit either number, including when you are ahead. The guide on session limits is the longer version of that habit.

Do not deposit more to “finish” a wagering requirement. The requirement is a condition of a bonus, not a debt you owe the evening. You can forfeit a bonus. You cannot un-spend the rent.

Tools, and their limits
